917 Spyders

The 917 Spyders were developed primarily for the Can Am & also dominated the European Interserie

The langheck or long-tail configuration followed earlier Porsche practice for low drag on high speed courses, particularly Le Mans' 3.7 mile Mulsanne Straight where cars approached 240 mph

While they produced blindingly fast top speed, handling & high speed stability suffered due to lack of downforce
